Mike Daly is a media artist, creative director and filmmaker, living in Sydney on the lands of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples. His award-winning work includes interactive digital gallery installations; data visualisations; VR experiences; light installations; projection video art for stage performances; immersive cinematic installations; and traditional films.
After developing a career as a visual effects artist and motion designer, Mike became a commercials director, working on large-scale projects in Iceland, Mexico, Italy, France, Germany, the UK, New Zealand and Australia.
He has worked extensively with artists and cultural institutions, including the State Library of NSW, Sydney Dance Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Opera House, Museums Victoria and Ballet de Lorraine in France.
Mike was creative director of the digital design studio Grumpy Sailor until 2020, leading large-scale innovative projects for major cultural institutions, such as ACMI, Melbourne Museum, Sydney Living Museums and Google Arts & Culture.
Mike’s work has been highly awarded, winning gold at Cannes Lions, D&AD, Ciclope, the Webby Awards, the Good Design Awards and more. His projects have been selected for Prix Ars Electronica, Cannes Film Festival, SXSW and many other creative festivals.
